Y10Day49: Leadership Changes

**The screen fades away from the Republic Medical banner and you see Lisa Boulade, a news reporter for the New Republic.**

“Greetings New Republic and the galaxy at large! Today, we have gathered here for yet another news press, and most likely, the last, from former CEO Angela LaSalle. So, without further ado, since I hear Mrs. LaSalle is running on a tight schedule…”

The camera shifts to the podium with the former CEO standing there. Unlike the usual friendly faces that can be seen on press, she wore a business like expression and can be seen to be worried about some matters. This, in addition to her well pressed dark gray intelligence uniform seems to attract some unease in the crowd. She seems to realize that the focus is now on her as she breaks out a quick but stressed smile to the crowd before speaking.

“Hello, Employees and Officers of the New Republic, and of course, to the rest of the galaxy. If you’ve been following us, you would have noticed the ever so frequent changes in leadership of this organization. While I was hoping my “job” per say will be more permanent, it turns out not so.

I have been appointed a public Command Officer of the Center for Republic Intelligence, in other words, it’s now my duty and job to keep you all safe. Unfortunately, this also means I no longer have the time, dedication, or ability to head a Medical Organization in the meantime. I have other important matters to attend to in the galaxy, and none of which will really allow a media press, or, my former employees, to follow me on.

As a result, I have resigned as CEO. For my replacement, Izjna Khaldo will now lead the faction. Izjna is a highly successful member in the New Republic and I’m sure the faction will be in good hands. For his Chief Administrations Officer, or 2nd in Command, will be our serving Republic Medical member Kesh Muntoo, who was actually my 2IC for a while.

In addition, I’m very pleased to announce that Jahu Skyla, former CEO of Republic Medical, have returned and will be taking up the role of Director of Operations. Jahu’s service time in Republic Medical, or New Republic as a whole, far exceeds those of mine and I am sure she will do a fantastic job as usual.”

She looked behind her at a military pilot off the stage waiting and nodded once.

“As you can see I’m just running on a tight schedule there. In other words, it’s time for me to leave this organization in the capable hands of its leadership. I wish they all best of luck! Long Live the New Republic!”

She waved once at the audience and stepped off the stage, disappearing into the darkness beyond.

Y11D22 Health Advisory-Interview with the CEO

**The screen fades away from the Republic Medical banner and you see the familiar face of Lisa Boulade, a news reporter for the New Republic.**

“Good evening fellow citizens of the New Republic, Sentinent Being of the Galaxy. My name is Lisa, your news reporter for today.”

“Lately, we’ve had reports of quite a bit of medical emergencies in the galaxy. Today, we have the pleasure of inviting the CEO of Republic Medical, Angela LaSalle, to answer a few of our questions.” She motioned for the person sitting in the chair to her right as the camera focuses on her.

Lisa: “Good evening, Mrs. LaSalle, and thank you for taking the time to speak with us.”

Angela: “Thank you for having me, Lisa, and you may call me Angela.”

Lisa: “Well, Angela, it would seem that in the past month or so we’ve had 5 medical emergencies reported? What’s the cause of all this?

Angela: “Yes, that is true. We have been able to react to these emergencies in a timely manner that all 5 cases have been addressed and patience should already be on their way home. The primary cause seems to be that the younger generation seems to not have a grasp of the danger involving hostile terrain. Out of the 5 cases, 4 of them occurred on Tatooine, which, as we all know, is one of the most populated planets in terms of human population. What they fail to realize though, is outside the protection of the city, sand storms or even the toxic air can be extremely dangerous. Without proper equipment and protection, any stay for an extended time outside a city could cause unconsciousness or even death.”

Lisa: “I see, so it is quite extreme. When speaking of equipments, is there anything specific?”

Angela: “There are a lot of survival equipments out there, notably the environmental suits. Depending on which type of terrain one is on, the requirements are actually different. I would highly suggest investing in some of these if you plan on having any exposure to an area outside of a city. Gas Masks and breathing mask filters are also items that are a good idea to have around. Most of all, if you have a vehicle or even a ship with ground repulsors, it’d be much better to go sight seeing in those, than go on a walk per say.”

Lisa: “I sure hope more people get the message and not risking their lives to explore the nature. How are the responses to these emergencies from Republic Medical?”

Angela: “If we find someone unconscious, bacta tank treatment is needed. We do have a few operations officers going around ready to react to any messages of distress with the necessary equipments, and the patients will be treated and brought to the nearest hospital for healing. When the sentient being is deemed to be healthy enough to heal on their own, our medics will sign the release paper and they can be on their way home or to work. We do have a few limitations however: To protect the safety of our operatives, we will only provide service on friendly (GA) or neutral worlds. In addition, we do not treat any known criminals or members of governments at war with the New Republic, unless informed by the proper authority. Unfortunately bacta treatment is also not cheap, so there is a cost associated with this, generally paid by the group or organization the sentient being is a member of.”

Lisa: “And what sort of cost are we looking at?”

Angela: “This service is provided free of cost to Republic citizens, at direct operations fee to Galactic Alliance members and at a rate of around 300,000 credits to individuals or members of neutral organizations and groups. The fee is a flexible rate depending on the location of the patient, for example, someone 4-5 days travel away will have a higher cost than someone in the same system. In addition, if a patient can not pay for that fee and it is understandable that the patient can’t, we will provide this free of charge being a non-profit organization. I see it as our duty to rescue those in distress, the money’s merely to cover our operational costs.”

Lisa: “That is very kind of you. I hope our audience learned something from this interview and will pass it on to the younger generation when possible so these situations may be less and less often. Thank you again, Mrs. LaSalle.”

Angela: “My pleasure to be here.”
